| Barnstable Municipal Airport |
Barnstable Municipal Airport was founded in 1928 by Charles Ayling and his son Robertson,
an aviation enthusiast. The two formed the Hyannis Airport Corporation and cleared 57 acres
near Mary Dunn Road in the village of Hyannis. The land was leveled and a single turf runway
was constructed. Amelia Earhart was an early stockholder and director of the corporation.
